Slovakia Work Visa for Pakistanis 2026: Process, Documents and Scam Warnings

Published October 11, 2026 ยท by Hijrat โ€” visa consultants, Islamabad & Rawalpindi

Slovakia has become one of the Schengen destinations Pakistani job seekers ask about most in 2026, mainly for factory, logistics, construction and hospitality work. The route is real, but it is employer-driven and heavily regulated, and it is also a favourite hunting ground for fake agents. This guide explains how the process generally works and what to check before paying anyone.

How a Slovakia work visa works

There is no general "job-seeker" visa for most Pakistani nationals. You normally need a concrete job offer from a Slovak employer first. The employer must go through the labour office process, which includes checking that the vacancy cannot be filled locally, and then a permit is processed together with your residence authorisation. In most cases the foreigners' police in Slovakia handle the single permit (combined work and residence), and you then collect a national long-stay visa or equivalent at the competent Slovak mission before travelling.

Documents you should prepare

Requirements vary by job and employer, but applicants are commonly asked for the following.

  1. A passport valid well beyond your planned stay, with free pages.
  2. A signed employment contract or binding job offer stating wage, hours and duration.
  3. Proof of qualifications or experience, with degrees verified through HEC and the MOFA apostille or attestation where required.
  4. A police clearance certificate from Pakistan.
  5. Proof of accommodation in Slovakia and health insurance cover.
  6. A medical certificate where the authorities ask for one, plus passport photos and fee receipts.

Foreign-language documents usually need an official translation, so budget time for that.

Timeline, fees and wages

Expect several months from job offer to arrival, because the labour office, the foreigners' police and the embassy appointment all take time. Government fees, minimum wage levels and processing times are updated regularly, so always check the official Slovak Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Foreign Affairs websites for the current figures rather than relying on a number quoted by an agent. Any wage in your contract must meet at least the legal minimum and the going rate for that role.

Protector, BEOE and recruitment agents

Pakistanis going abroad for employment should deal only with licensed overseas employment promoters and follow the BEOE registration and protector process where it applies. Warning signs of a scam include a visa "guaranteed" for a large upfront cash payment, no written employer contract, requests to travel on a visit or tourist visa to "convert" it later, and agents who will not name the employer. Verify the company independently and keep receipts for every payment.
