Czech Republic Work Visa from Pakistan 2026: What the Islamabad Quota Really Means

Published August 29, 2026 · by Hijrat — visa consultants, Islamabad & Rawalpindi

Every week our Aabpara office takes calls from people who have been offered a “Czech Republic work visa” by an agent in Islamabad or Rawalpindi — usually for a factory, warehouse or driving job, usually for a fee of several lakh rupees. Almost none of those offers can be delivered. The reason is one line on the Czech Embassy’s own website, and it has not changed for 2026.

The Islamabad quota for ordinary work visas is zero

The Czech Embassy in Islamabad states plainly that it does not offer appointments to individual applicants for work visas. Under Czech Government Decree No. 220/2019 Coll., as amended by Decree No. 321/2022 Coll., every Czech mission is given a fixed annual cap on how many Employee Card applications it may accept. For Islamabad, the quota under the Qualified Worker Programme — the route covering ordinary skilled and semi-skilled jobs — is zero. The quota for the Long-term Visa for Entrepreneurship is also zero. In the embassy’s own words, the annual quota is fixed and cannot be exceeded.

What Islamabad does accept in 2026

There is a narrow opening, but it runs through the employer rather than the applicant. The embassy accepts, per year:

  1. 80 Employee Card applications in total, under the Highly Qualified Worker Programme or the Key and Research Staff Programme.
  2. EU Blue Card applications under both of those programmes — with no annual limit.
  3. Intra-Company Employee Transfer Cards for staff moving within a multinational.
  4. Long-term residence permits for the purpose of investment.

In every case the Czech employer applies first to have the position and the worker included in a government programme administered by the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Only then does the consulate issue the applicant an appointment — you cannot book one yourself. The 80 places are also spread evenly across the calendar year rather than released in a single batch.

Fees, salary and processing time

The Employee Card application fee at an embassy is CZK 5,000, payable in the local currency equivalent. From 1 January 2026 the legal processing deadline for Employee Card applications is 90 days, extended from the 60-day deadline that applied until late 2025, so plan for the full period. The job must be at least 15 hours a week and pay at least the Czech minimum wage, which stood at roughly CZK 20,800 per month in 2025 and is indexed upward each year — confirm the exact current figure before signing any contract. You will also need proof of accommodation in Czechia. One welcome change from June 2026: applicants under the two high-skill programmes no longer have to produce police clearance certificates from every country where they lived for six months in the past three years.

How to recognise an offer that cannot work

If an agent offers you a Czech work visa for a labour, driver, warehouse, restaurant or construction job and asks for money upfront, treat it as a red flag. Islamabad’s quota for that category is zero, so nobody — including us — can file the application at all. A genuine case begins with a named Czech company already registered in a government programme that contacts the embassy about you, not with a payment. The same warning applies to “guaranteed” Czech entrepreneurship visas. If you want a European work route that is genuinely open to Pakistani applicants, read our guides to the Poland work visa, the Hungary work visa and the German Opportunity Card instead.

What to prepare if your offer is real

If a Czech employer has genuinely started the programme process for you, the paperwork takes longer than most people expect. You will need your degree attested through HEC and MOFA, a police character certificate, and certified English or Czech translations of any document issued in Urdu. Starting these before the employer’s side is finalised is the single best way to avoid missing your slot in a quota that only has 80 places a year. See our full visa services for what we handle.
