Kuwait Visa for Pakistanis 2026: Visit, Family & Work Routes Are Open Again
For almost two decades, Kuwait was effectively closed to Pakistani visitors. That changed when Kuwait reopened tourist, family visit, commercial and employment visas for Pakistani nationals in May 2025 — ending a roughly 19-year freeze. A year on, files are moving, and Kuwait is once again a realistic option for Pakistani workers and families with relatives in the Gulf.
Which Kuwait visas can Pakistanis get in 2026?
Four categories matter for most applicants: the tourist visa for short stays, the family visit visa (sponsored by a relative resident in Kuwait), the commercial visa for business meetings, and the work visa sponsored by a Kuwaiti employer. Unlike many Gulf destinations, Kuwait's eVisa portal is not reliably available to Pakistani passport holders applying from Pakistan — most files still go through a sponsor in Kuwait or the Kuwaiti Embassy in Islamabad, so allow extra time for processing.
The work visa route, step by step
Kuwait's employment route is employer-driven. You cannot simply apply for a "Kuwait work visa" on your own — the process starts in Kuwait, not Pakistan:
- Secure a genuine job offer from a Kuwaiti employer.
- The employer obtains your work permit from Kuwait's labour authorities.
- An entry visa is issued against that permit and sent to you.
- Complete medical tests and security clearance, and process your documents through Pakistan's Bureau of Emigration (via a licensed OEP where applicable).
- After arrival, the employer converts your entry visa into a residence permit (iqama).
Most work-visa applicants are expected to be roughly between 21 and 50 years of age, though exceptions exist for specialised roles.
Documents you will need
Expect to provide a passport valid for at least six months, CNIC copy, photographs, and — for family visits — a B-Form/FRC showing the relationship, plus an invitation from your sponsor in Kuwait. Urdu documents such as a nikah nama or FRC usually need certified translation and MOFA attestation before they are accepted. Employment documents (degrees, experience letters) should also be attested.
