Georgia Visa for Pakistanis 2026: e-Visa, Insurance Rule and Documents

Published October 19, 2026 ยท by Hijrat โ€” visa consultants, Islamabad & Rawalpindi

Georgia, the Caucasus country known for Tbilisi, Batumi and the mountain resort of Gudauri, has become a popular short-trip destination for Pakistani travellers. The entry rules, however, are not as simple as "just book a ticket", and they changed again this year. This guide explains the general process for Pakistani passport holders in 2026, the new insurance requirement, and the mistakes that cause refusals.

Do Pakistanis need a visa for Georgia?

As a rule, Pakistani passport holders need a visa before travelling to Georgia. For tourism, Georgia operates an online e-Visa system through its official government portal, evisa.gov.ge. Georgia has also historically allowed visa-free or simplified entry for people holding a valid visa or residence permit from certain countries, such as Schengen states, the USA, the UK, Canada, Australia and GCC countries, but the exact list and conditions are set by the Georgian authorities and can change. Always confirm your category on the official portal or with the Georgian mission before buying tickets. Some third-party websites give conflicting information, so rely on the official source only.

How to apply for the Georgia e-Visa

The application is made online. Beware of look-alike sites that charge inflated "service" fees; the official portal is the only authorised channel. The typical steps are:

  1. Create your application on the official e-Visa portal and select the tourist category.
  2. Fill in your passport and travel details exactly as shown in your passport.
  3. Upload a clear passport scan and a recent photograph.
  4. Upload supporting documents such as accommodation booking, return ticket, proof of funds and insurance, if requested.
  5. Pay the fee online by card and save your application number.
  6. Wait for the decision by email, then print the approved e-Visa and carry it with your passport.

Fees and processing time

Published figures vary between sources. The government fee has been quoted at roughly USD 20 for a standard short-stay e-Visa, with some portals adding service charges, and processing is generally quoted in the range of 3 to 10 working days. Treat these as indicative only. Fees are normally non-refundable even if the application is refused, so check the official portal for the current amount. We recommend applying at least three to four weeks before your planned departure.

New health insurance requirement

From 1 January 2026, Georgia introduced a rule requiring foreign visitors to hold health and accident insurance for the whole stay, reported at a minimum cover of about GEL 30,000. Border officers may check this on arrival at airports and land crossings. Buy a policy that clearly shows your name, passport number, travel dates and coverage amount, and keep a printout. A policy that does not meet the requirement can lead to delays or refused entry.

Documents to prepare

Even where the portal does not ask for every document, officers at the border may. Carry a passport valid for at least six months with blank pages, your approved e-Visa, a confirmed return or onward ticket, hotel bookings or an invitation, recent bank statements showing sufficient funds, your insurance certificate, and an employment or business letter. Students should carry a university letter. Attestation or translation of supporting papers is usually not needed for a tourist trip, but see our attestation service if you need documents verified for other purposes.

Common mistakes to avoid

Applicants most often lose time because of name or passport-number typing errors, unclear scans, using unofficial websites, booking non-refundable flights before approval, and travelling without insurance. Do not rely on agents who promise guaranteed approval, as only the Georgian authorities decide. If you plan a longer stay, work or study in Georgia, a different visa or permit applies, and it cannot normally be obtained on a tourist e-Visa.
