Fully-Funded Scholarships for Pakistani Students (2026–27 Intake): Deadlines and How to Apply

Published July 8, 2026 · by Hijrat — visa consultants, Islamabad & Rawalpindi

For many Pakistani students, a fully-funded scholarship is the most realistic path to studying abroad — covering tuition, living costs and often airfare and insurance too. With the 2026–27 application season now opening, here are the major programmes worth preparing for and their typical timelines. Deadlines shift every year, so treat the dates below as a planning guide and always confirm on each official website.

Chevening (United Kingdom)

Chevening is the UK government's flagship award for a one-year master's in any subject. It covers full tuition, a monthly living stipend, return economy airfare and several additional grants. Applications for the 2027 intake are expected to open around August 2026 and typically close in early November 2026, making it one of the first big deadlines to prepare for. You need at least two or three years of work experience and an undergraduate degree. Pairing it with our UK Student visa guide helps you plan the full journey.

Fulbright (United States)

The US Fulbright programme funds master's and PhD study and is among the most generous awards available to Pakistani students, administered locally by USEFP. It awards roughly 150 scholarships each year and covers tuition, a living stipend, airfare and health insurance. The current cycle's deadline fell on 1 April 2026, so watch for the next cycle to open in early 2027 for a later intake — and start GRE and English-test preparation well in advance.

Erasmus Mundus (Europe)

Erasmus Mundus Joint Master's programmes let you study across two or more European universities with full funding, including a monthly allowance and travel costs. Most individual programmes close between December 2026 and February 2027 for the following academic year, and because you can apply to several at once, they are excellent value for the effort.

Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC)

The CSC covers tuition, accommodation, living costs and travel for undergraduate, master's and doctoral study in China — a popular route for Pakistani students given the two countries' close educational ties. Applications generally run from November 2026 to January 2027 and usually require a university admission or acceptance letter arranged in advance, so contact your target universities early.

Other programmes to track

Also worth preparing for are the Commonwealth Scholarships (UK, around December), Türkiye Bursları (usually January–February), Stipendium Hungaricum for Hungary (January–February), Australia Awards (April–May) and DAAD scholarships for Germany. Building a shortlist of three to five awards, rather than betting everything on one, greatly improves your odds of success.

How to prepare your documents

Strong applications share the same foundations: solid academic transcripts, a compelling personal statement, strong references and English-language proof such as IELTS or TOEFL. Many programmes also require attested degrees and, where documents are in Urdu, certified English translations. Getting these ready early means a last-minute deadline never costs you an opportunity. When should you start?

The honest answer is now. Competitive applications take three to six months to assemble — you need time to sit English tests, secure genuine references, draft and redraft your personal statement, and gather attested and translated documents. Because the strongest deadlines (Chevening, Commonwealth and CSC) cluster between November 2026 and January 2027, beginning your preparation over the summer of 2026 puts you comfortably ahead rather than scrambling at the last minute.

Need your degree attested for a job or study abroad?

Scholarship eligibility, coverage and deadlines change every year and are decided solely by each awarding body. The dates here are general guidance as of July 2026 — always confirm current details on the official scholarship website before applying, and never pay anyone who "guarantees" a fully-funded scholarship.
