A Canada visitor visa โ officially a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) โ lets Pakistanis travel to Canada for tourism, family visits or business. Before you apply in 2026, it helps to know exactly what it costs, what biometrics involve, and how long the wait really is.
The government processing fee for a visitor visa is CAD $100 per person (capped at CAD $500 for a family of five or more applying together). On top of that, almost everyone aged 14 to 79 must pay a biometrics fee of CAD $85 per person (CAD $170 for a family). So a single adult applicant should budget roughly CAD $185 in government fees, before the cost of the medical, photos, or any travel to the visa application centre.
After you submit your application and pay, you receive a Biometric Instruction Letter. You then have 30 days to visit a Visa Application Centre (VAC) in person to give ten fingerprints and a photo. Biometrics are valid for ten years, so if you have given them recently for an earlier Canadian application, you may not need to repeat them.
This is where patience matters. As a rough guide, visitor visa files from Pakistan have been taking in the region of 8 to 12 weeks, and sometimes longer, because the Islamabad visa office routes many applications to other offices for security screening. Published processing-time estimates change constantly, and the clock does not include the time you take to give biometrics or to complete a medical if one is requested. Always check the official IRCC processing-time tool for the latest figure before you plan travel.
Most Pakistani refusals come down to weak evidence of funds, unclear travel purpose, or doubts about whether you will return home. Strengthen your case with consistent bank statements, proof of employment or business, property or family ties in Pakistan, and a clear, realistic travel plan. A well-organised file with an honest cover letter goes a long way.
