Qatar Work Visa for Pakistanis 2026: QVC, Medical and the Full Process
Qatar remains one of the biggest job markets for Pakistani workers, from construction and hospitality to drivers, technicians and professionals. The work visa itself is arranged by your Qatari employer, but every Pakistani applicant must complete a set of steps at the Qatar Visa Center (QVC) in Pakistan before flying. Here is how the Qatar work visa works in 2026 and what to watch out for.
It starts with the employer
You cannot apply for a Qatar work visa on your own. A licensed Qatari employer must first request the work visa through Qatar’s Ministry of Interior system, which generates a Visa Requirement Number (or Application Number). Without this number from your sponsor, you cannot even book an appointment. If someone offers you a “Qatar work visa” without a named employer, treat it as a red flag.
The Qatar Visa Center (QVC) — the key step
Since Qatar processes work visas before arrival, Pakistanis must visit a Qatar Visa Center, which has branches in Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi. You book an appointment online using the visa number from your employer, then attend in person to complete three things: biometric enrolment (photo and fingerprints), the medical examination, and electronic signing of your employment contract.
The medical (GAMCA / Wafid)
The medical is done through the GCC-approved GAMCA / Wafid network at the QVC. Tests typically include chest X-ray, HIV, Hepatitis B and C, syphilis, blood sugar and a pregnancy test for women. The fee is usually around QAR 200–400 (roughly QAR 290). Results are sent by SMS, and your official fit or unfit status is normally confirmed within about 10 to 15 business days. A “fit” medical is generally valid for 90 days, so you must travel within that window.
Documents and attestation
Keep a passport valid for at least six months, passport photos, your signed job offer, and — for skilled and professional roles — your attested degree and experience certificates. Getting your education documents attested and, where needed, translated before you start avoids delays at the contract stage.
Who pays, and staying safe
Under Qatar’s rules the employer is responsible for the visa and recruitment costs — you should not be charged large “visa selling” fees. Deal only with an OEP (Overseas Employment Promoter) licensed by Pakistan’s Bureau of Emigration & Overseas Employment, and make sure your protector/emigration clearance is done before you travel. This is what protects you if anything goes wrong abroad.
After you arrive
Once you land in Qatar on the work visa, your employer completes your residence permit (QID), which involves a further medical and fingerprinting locally. From there you are a legal resident and can later sponsor family on a family visa where eligible.

Disclaimer: Visa rules, fees and medical charges change frequently, and QAR/PKR figures here are approximate and move with the exchange rate. Eligibility and the final decision rest solely with the Qatari authorities (Ministry of Interior) and the Qatar Visa Center. Recruitment for overseas employment must go through a BE&OE-licensed promoter. Always confirm current requirements through the official Qatar Visa Center before paying anything.
